Our Story

We're Kris and Alyssa Yuhouse, the mother-daughter team behind the kitchen, and we're so glad you're here.

While we're originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, our family's roots trace back to Eastern Europe. The recipes we prepare every day have been passed down through generations and are inspired by our Hungarian, Italian, and Polish heritage. Sharing these treasured family recipes with our community has truly been a dream come true.

Every dish we serve is made from scratch with the same love, care, and tradition that filled our family table growing up. From our stuffed cabbage rolls and homemade lasagna to hearty Hungarian goulash and handcrafted soups, we believe you can taste the difference when food is made the old-fashioned way—with fresh ingredients, time, and heart.

Our mission is simple: to create homemade comfort food that brings people together, sparks memories of gathering around Grandma's table, and offers something truly special to the Liberty community. Whether you're stopping in for breakfast, lunch, taking dinner home to your family, or celebrating with one of our homemade desserts, we want every visit to feel warm, welcoming, and memorable.

After moving back to Liberty (for the third time!), opening The Comfort Kitchen has been one of the most rewarding chapters of our lives. The kindness, encouragement, and support we've received from this community have meant more than we could ever put into words.

Thank you for sharing your meals, your stories, and your family traditions with us. Thank you for every visit, every recommendation, and every opportunity to be part of your table.

We can't wait to welcome you through our doors, share a homemade meal, and continue making memories together.

From our family to yours—welcome to The Comfort Kitchen.
